Easy To Clean Kitchen

The Perfect, Easy-to-Clean Kitchen
Cleaning up after a big meal or an evening of entertaining is a chore most try to avoid. If you are looking to build a new home or remodel an existing kitchen, here are some of our suggestions for products and features that will make cleaning up your new kitchen that much easier:

Countertop – Natural Stone, stainless steel, quartz, Corian and laminates are all good choices with varying cleaning needs. While granite is porous and needs to be sealed, it is no longer something that needs to be done in the home every year. There are now sealants that are applied in the fabrication shop that last for 25 years.

Backsplash – Food and sauces can splash to the backsplash too, so having an easy-to-clean surface is key for the top-chef in you. Products like glass, stone slab, and laminate in their full-sheet form allow for easy clean-up. If choosing tile, be sure to pick non-porous stone and pair with an epoxy grout that resists stains.

Flooring – Like the backsplash, flooring that doesn't require a lot of grout lines will be easier to clean. Wood floors are beautiful, but do require you to clean up immediately. Also, large format tiles of many kinds are easy clean up, especially glazed tiles. Spills wipe up like a dream off that type of surface.

Cabinetry – More simplistic cabinets with limited detailing allow for easier clean up. Food and grime can get stuck in the small crevices of the accent designs.

Sinks – Undermount sinks with no lip between the counter and the sink allow for a simple clean-up. As far as the faucet, the pullout sprayer is important for easy clean-up of bigger pots and pans.

Appliances – While many prefer the function of a gas stove, glass stovetops are much easier to clean. Covering appliance with cabinetry door panels relieves the need to keep wiping fingerprints off your stainless steel.

Storage – Additional storage is not only important for having a place to store things, but also for hiding the everyday clutter that may take over your kitchen. The coffee maker, toaster, microwave, and so much more can take up counter space. With strategic design, cabinets can be used to store all those items away for easy use and put-away.

Floorplan – While all of these items have an impact on the clean-ability of your kitchen, many overlook that the floorplan plays a part in this too. Creating a short path from the sink to dishwasher and storage makes for better clean up and efficiency while doing it!
