Colmar Kitchen Studio's Rachel Hale Awarded: First Place in Regional Design

AVALON, NJ (October 15, 2018) – Leading cabinetry company, Wood-Mode Fine Custom Cabinetry has awarded designer Rachel Hale of Avalon's Colmar Kitchen Studio, First Place in Regional Design. The winners were announced at the reception during Wood-Mode's 2018 new product showcase as part of their 75th Anniversary celebration on September 17-18 at Hershey Lodge in Hershey, PA. The kitchen selected was a traditional design completed in Summit, NJ.

"Rachel exudes professionalism and her attention to detail is above all else," said Tom Collins, Owner of Colmar Kitchen Studio, "She is a valuable asset to both Colmar and our clients. She is so deserving of this award and we are thrilled to have her as part of our team."

In this award-winning kitchen, Hale was able to elevate the classic "black and white kitchen" through her design choices. Although the kitchen generally relates to traditional design elements: 1" thick face-frame inset cabinetry, chamfered corners, posts, pilasters and a bow-front farm sink, it was imperative to balance the traditional elements of the cabinetry with the more transitional elements of the surrounding architecture of the home.

"Central focal points on all three walls, along with the dual islands, were designed with two specific purposes in mind - prep and entertainment," said Rachel Hale, Designer at Colmar Kitchen Studio, "Each wall needed to be equal and exact and not only be a beautiful show piece, but also to serve a specific purpose. I've designed the kitchen to be everything a mother of 3 could need for the day to day while still being able to prepare a Thanksgiving feast with a house full of family and friends. A 9' run of appliances is loaded with two fully integrated 36" Sub Zero columns, and a custom double oven cabinet and a warming drawer. By stacking cabinetry and incorporating four 36" wide lift up hinge cabinets into the area as well, there is a new space for bulk storage and visual interest."
